What a Birthday
Hi, Kat here; I'm making a small post about my birthday today as it was a wonderful and special day that I would like to remember in our blog...
My slight anxiety about becoming another year older has been shattered by the most amazing day in a school of a small indian village with the most beautiful women.
Today I felt maybe more gratitude to these women than I have felt in a long time.
As if this wasn't enough, we returned home to find that the family we are staying with had thrown me a party and I understood immediately the effort that they had gone to as it is quite hard to find decorations such as these around here and that they had gone to so much effort. The youngest of the group had made a pinata which he filled with hand cut paper and the whole family had stood on tables and chairs to hang a multitude of balloons which they had blown up themselves.
They then brought out a huge cake with a sparkler which they had decorated with my name then the whole family put on their finest clothes and shoes and we all danced in the kitchen.
I can say that this has been the most wonderful day in which I learnt the true meaning of acceptance and opening your home to strangers but treating them as family. I also wanted to thank the girls with whom I am travelling; Christina, Sorcha and Kaveri for suprising me with a lovely gift and for being so warm and open.
love Kat
